Stress management and the positive impact it has on our lives

Everyone can relate to conditions where they face stress in daily life, let it be in professional work or academics, stress could be witnessed. Whatever might the context be, stress does no good to our bodies. It makes us over think situations in our life and makes us age before time, yes that does happen. When a person undergoes a lot of stress, it starts changing their hormonal balance and it can greatly affect a person’s skin and hair conditions, making them look more aged than they really are. Stressful conditions have negative impacts on our general health and it can also greatly influence the way we lead our lives.

The adverse effects of stress on our body can vary with cause and resolutions. Everyone tackles challenges and problems in diverse ways and therefore different people have different threshold levels when dealing with stress. It is possible that a condition which invokes a sense of fear in you might make another person thrive out of excitement; a certain condition which makes you confident might be a situation which leaves your friend in a bundle of nerves and they are just unable to process information in their mind. Stress is something which is seen everywhere and different individuals have got different methods of tackling them. The effects of stress in the start are subtle and our body shows no major sign till it has been too late, over the long term it can even turn into deadly consequences. The physical effects of stress are tremendous, increased risk of heart disease, mental and nervous breakdowns, severe headaches and also increased susceptibility to infections and viral diseases are only few of the effects stress actually has on our bodies.

One of the major contributors of stress is the increasing sense of competitive nature amongst the people, where everyone desires to achieve something more than the others. This has resulted in people taking a lot of unnecessary stress and tension which also takes a toll on their productivity. Although in the short run, stress can prove to be helpful as it provides us the ability to react to situations quickly and then we try to resolve the problems as immediately as possible. Although being in an emotionally drained state, people who face stress may turn obsessive with their professional life and then they try to eradicate the source of stress, which makes their productivity rise.  But in the long run stress could prove to be fatal. Yet, a lot of us live with stress in our minds, sometimes for years and years.

People need to take steps in managing stress in today’s time, if we continue to live with stress then our health conditions could change drastically and negative impacts of stress like increased rate of heart, tensed muscles, thoughts which race through the mind and occasional rushes in adrenaline. Extreme amount of stress also increases agitation within the individual and they might face a hard time in even sitting still for a moment, they can get paranoid and frightened and can even turn them aggressive. Stress varies from person to person but identifying a person who is undergoing stressful conditions is not that tough to do, it affects behavior and leads people to activities like excessive smoking, drinking and even over-eating in some cases. Stress can most certainly affect our behavior, leading to disadvantages in a social context, as well as negative lifestyle behaviors, such as over-eating, smoking and drinking excessively. Others may manifest effects of stress on the body in less obvious ways.
