What if we came into this world with mirrors attached in front of our cornea? What if we could see how we look when we act recklessly and do wrong to others? What if there were no languages for us so to speak ill of others ?What if there were no races for us to discriminate against ?What if there was no gender for us to mistreat ? What if there was no religion to make us feel weak or superior ?What if there were no fights between groups proving the superiority of the self created image of their god? What if there was no concept of money for us to create a vicious life of poverty for some ? What if there were no precious materialistic things that germinate the seeds of greed in our minds? What if there were no rules for us to break ? What if there was no law and order for us to corrupt? What if we had no mind to play petty dirty tricks on each other? What if we had no environment to exploit and destroy? What if there were no animals that we could hunt for glory? What if there were no mountains we would unnecessarily conquer ? What if there were no rivers we could pollute with the weapon of ignorance ? What if there was no concept of logic for us to justify our cruel deeds What if what we had was all we had?
What if , like his moustache , his list of ruthless mass killings of the Jews and the disabled and all the the non Aryans was small ?What if the little dictator had never ruled over Germany ? What if japan had never challenged the USA through the surprise planning of bombing the pearl harbor ? What if Hiroshima and Nagasaki were something more than just the experiment area of the USA to test the first atomic bomb ? What if north Korea had not bull dozed their way into south Korea ? What if the berlin wall was never erected to divide the people from their loved ones and the country men from their own country? What if our world was free from plunder , loots and crimes?
What if the cold war had never given rise to the Cuban missile crisis ?What if the competition of being the only superpower had ended before it even began ? What if India and Pakistan had never gone down the lane of partition and a life long bitterness that followed ?
What if the picture of the world painted by the great painters was true? What if purity of the heart , innocence of love , the strength of will and the sanity of mind as seen in galibh’s poems was all real? What if there was some safeguard in human nature ? What if we were all satisfied and fulfilled with our lives ?
What if all this was true?
There would still be someone out there creating his own What if.
